Your urgent action is needed to save our parking, Hillhead needs your help!
The Hillhead Community Council submitted a formal complaint to GCC regarding the change in parking, as we have severe reservations regarding the validity of the Road Traffic Order. In order for the council to respond to this, individuals in Hillhead MUST email separately.
Very simply put, there are 831 spaces in Hillhead, and the council want to open these up to over 5000 permit holders from other areas who will be allowed to park in our area for free 24/7, alongside non permit holders who will also be able to park in any spaces (subject to 80p per 15 minutes during the day and for free overnight).
You can imagine what is going to happen to our street when this happens. The chances are, you will no longer find a space to park in anywhere near your flat. Hillhead is unique in what it offers, the council is removing all parking from Byres Road and want to encourage all other areas to park in our resident spaces purely for business reasons and to the detriment of the residents.
What do you need to do so Hillhead Community Council can fight for you.

Subject: Formal Complaint against Glasgow City Council
Dear Glasgow City Council,
I <Full Name>, living at <address>, wish to register a formal complaint on the handling of the Road Traffic Order for Parking in the Hillhead area, I do not agree with the reasons given for the parking permit changes by the council and I do not agree with the procedures used to push this through.
Please find attached two documents which contain my concerns in full, I agree with the contents of both the report and the complaints raised.
I authorise Hillhead Community Council to act on my behalf on this complaint.
Kind Regards
<your full name >
Remember to attach both PDF documents and copy in both email addresses above.
Once you have done this, your work is done, the council will then copy you in on any replies to Hillhead Community council acting on your behalf.
Hillhead Community council has done an incredible job on this formal complaint, the summary of the contents is as follows:
Main grounds of concern are :
(a) in issuing the Order the Council exceeded their powers by ignoring their own procedures ;
(b) Executive Director of Neighbourhoods, Regeneration and Sustainability(ED NRS) was not neutral with regard to the case for/against the Order ;
(c) the information provided to justify the making of the Order is misleading, incomplete and even factually incorrect in some instances ;
(d) the Order contravenes Council policy ;
(e) the Order was made at the instigation of businesses, to the detriment of the residents of Hillhead.
Why do indivuduals need to do the above?
Our complaint was issued in accordance with the Council's complaints procedure.
However, we have been informed by the Council that this procedure is not appropriate for a community council, but only for individuals.
The advice we have been given is that individual(s) should submit the complaint to GCC, and the individual(s) can then authorise HCC to act on their behalf.
The full case is contained in the two PDF documents.
