LThis is one of our latest projects where we are working together to improve our small local childrens park.
The retaining wall area was overgrowing with weeds, so the neighbours have taken it upon themselves to improve things!
Next stage will be planting bulbs and bushes for spring.
Below are photos of our progress
The forest of weeds!
Gary kick starts things for us
Woodchip is delivered to the road outside the park
1000kg of woodchip is moved into the park by hand
All hands on deck 28/09/2024 the neighbours young and old join in to clean up and weed the area making it ready to be covered in fresh woodchip!
1 ton of wood chip used to cover the area to help keep the weeds under control.
The wood chip was donated to us by tree surgeon Alistair Watson

Cranworth Lane group - led by Tammy, with the help of Mel. To join or ask anything about this group, please contact tammy_woods@hotmail.com. The group has already had its first meeting and has got together a plan to: Create an info pack to educate residents about recycling and bin maintenance. Arrange a street clean ups with residents. Liaise with KSNA via WhatsApp & contact Neighbourhood Liaison for Hillhead, Gillian McDonald (now Martin Neill), regarding our concerns and suggested actions. This could be getting a street sweeper for the lanes/street, getting the trees/shrubs pruned in the play park & removing one of the benches there as it attracts anti-social behaviour. Also getting additional lighting for the play park.
Sardinia & Kersland Lanes group - led by Euan. To find out more and to join the Sardinia/Kersland Lanes WhatsApp group contact us asking to join.
Both groups will explore the funds available for lane improvement and would welcome residents support and suggestions.
